Annuel Optimiste d’Architecture 2010

French Touch

A special year, a year of recovery for architecture in France, it was also a modest year in terms of production, which gave us at French Touch a lot of work to find and select the 200 projects we are presenting.

As usual, we went through several rounds of reviewing the submitted projects (200 this time) and selected only those chosen by majority vote. Each building was then visited by a member of French Touch, who also wrote a presentation note.

This fourth edition now stands as part of a series that we aim to establish over the long term, making it a reference base for French architecture. Once again, debates within French Touch were lively regarding the relationship between urban projects and the architecture that shapes them. The realization of the Monolithe in Lyon, designed by five architects and a developer, within a strong and unified urban form, appeared to us as a significant moment in the discussion about the city, and we have given it an important place in this Annual.
